I am a board-certified psychiatrist offering individual psychotherapy and medication consultation services in Burlington, VT.
Approach
I am a board-certified psychiatrist offering individual therapy and medication management services to adults in the Burlington community.
I completed medical school at UVM’s Robert Larner College of Medicine prior to relocating to New York City for residency training in adult psychiatry. Following residency, I worked as an attending psychiatrist in NYU Langone Hospital’s emergency department, and provided therapy and medication management services through NYU’s Faculty Group Practice in Manhattan. I also completed advanced training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy through the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. Since returning to Vermont, I have worked as an attending psychiatrist within the UVM Health Network, most recently as a psychiatric consultant to primary care physicians. I continue to serve as a lecturer and psychotherapy supervisor within UVM’s College of Medicine.
In my work as a psychiatrist and therapist, I am committed to supporting people struggling with mood symptoms such as anxiety and depression, navigating grief, life transitions, or relationship difficulty, or who seek a deeper understanding of patterned ways of thinking and behaving. I specialize in psychotherapy informed by psychodynamic as well as cognitive behavioral (CBT, ACT, DBT) perspectives.
I offer psychotherapy alone or in combination with medication, as well as stand-alone medication consultation services. While I prefer to meet in person at my office in downtown Burlington, I also offer telehealth appointments.

Services
Psychiatric Assessment
I offer comprehensive psychiatric assessments, typically divided into two 60-90 minute sessions scheduled in close succession. During these sessions, my aim is to understand your current difficulties, goals, and your personal and mental health history. Following two assessment sessions, we will discuss impressions and recommendations, and consider if working together is in your best interest. This service may be useful for people seeking diagnostic clarification, a second opinion, or guidance in terms of recommended next treatment steps.
The assessment sessions are an important step in establishing an ongoing treatment relationship, but do not guarantee future treatment.
Individual Therapy
Following the assessment sessions, we may agree that working together in ongoing individual therapy is the best path forward for you. Though the therapeutic approach and appointment frequency is tailored to individual needs and goals, I generally recommend a commitment of once weekly sessions, at a minimum.
I am available to meet in person, at my office in downtown Burlington, or via telehealth.
Medication Management
In addition to individual psychotherapy, I offer medication management consultation and ongoing prescribing services.
Medication management services also begin with two 60-90 minute assessments, in order to get to know you and better understand your needs and past history. At the conclusion of the assessment visits, we will discuss clinical impressions and decide together if ongoing medication management follow up with me is in your best interest.
